Frank Zummo's other passion is performing
in bands and he currently drums for theStart whose record, Initiation,
came out in August 2004 on Nitro. Tour dates can be found on the band's

Zummo had to to bow out of a few of the
2004 tour dates because of Street Drum Corps commitments and Adrian
Young from No Doubt filed in for him, Not a bad substitute! theStart
features former Snot drummer, Jamie Miller on Guitar. (Snot released Get
Some album through Geffen in 1997.)
Frank Zummo has been written up in Modern
Drummer and DRUM! Magazines.
Around the age of 3, Frank Zummo
discovered his father's drumset and by the age of 7 he won the Long
Island Drum Center's "Battle of the Beats." From then on, Zummo has
always juggled a myriad of drumming projects.
Frank played on and off from 1996-2004
with the top rated, top 40 Omni Pop Talent Agency NY cover band "The
Zoo" who won MTV's ultimate cover band prizewinners. Zummo toured all
over the east coast in The Zoo who was sponsored by Coors Light. The Zoo
was featured in 2 commercials that aired on MTV, VH1 and E in the
tristate (NY/NJ/CT) area.
In 2000, Zummo started his first drum
show company called "Re-Percussion" and performed at Hershey Park in PA
and Lake Compounce in CT. He also performed in the "MS Westerdam
Orchestra" aboard Holland America Cruise Line, sailing from Vancouver BC
to Alaska.
In 2001, the NY power metal group, Virgin
Steele, asked Zummo to tour Europe. Impressed, Virgin Steele asked him
to drum on their CD The Book Of Burning, which was released worldwide in
2002 through Modern Music/Sanctuary Records.
Originally from the NYC metropolitan
area, Frank Zummo moved to Los Angeles in February 2004, which is when
he started Street Drum Corps and in the fall of 2004, he was asked to
join theStart.
