xymox Percussion

For the uninformed, Xymox came to birth in the fall of 1993. Since this time we have attempted to make our mark by creating new (and possibly innovative) ideas. A quick list would include; the first marching tenor pad (1994) and both the orb (spot) pad and the corps pad (1995/1996).

Up until this time the only pad options on the market were single, double or split pads. We created and developed the first patented snare pad (1999/2000) which brings the ordinary to life with a metal applicator inserted on the bottom side creating a realistic snare sounding pad. Also, new items include Deadbeats, the first true practice drumsticks and the XGrip, a self adjusting pad mount holder which fits any size practice pad onto a standard cymbal stand. Both of these items are patent pending.

To put to rest the ever common questions and in no particular order.

1. The name Xymox comes from an underground Goth band (Clan of Xymox) out of the Netherlands. If you look in any dictionary the word (Xymox) does not exist. However the origin of the name (Xymotic) can be found in some Greek dictionaries and is described/defined as having a type of disease.

2. Yes, we do manufacture pads for both the Promark Corporation (XPAD) and Yamaha Music (Chop Block) worldwide.

3. No, we never went away. Just more visible at times and less visible at other times.

4. Yes, the photos you see throughout our web site, www.xymoxpercussion.com
and in the after-hours section are of our facilities in California. Quite an entertaining atmosphere and yes, we do actually manufacture and distribute from this facility.
